For each gymnast to reach their full potential we provide various development pathways to follow. Gymnasts are grouped according to their ability, development stage and individual needs. All gymnasts undergo continual progress checks during their sessions. Once levels are completed your child will move to the next stage and will be invited to change class where applicable. For squad gymnasts progress is communicated directly via the coaching team.
Recreational Gymnastics/Tumbling
All our gymnasts start in our recreational programme following the highly respected Perfect 10 Programme. The Perfect 10 Levels 1-10 are divided into stages and aims to provide a complete progressive pathway for gymnasts of all ages. Preschool Stage 0 (level 1-4) ,
Stage 1 (Level 5-6), Stage 2 (Levels 7-8) and Stage 3 (levels 9-10)..
Children work hard to advance through our recreational programme. Each Stage has a Skill Progress Card that allows you to see your child's progress. Children require 57 stars to advance to the next Stage. Progression varies greatly among individuals. On average children move up through Levels 5 -10 at a rate of one per year. The focus should be on skill mastery rather than rapid advancement. Children in levels 5 -10 have three events per year adding an extra layer of excitement to the programme.
Competitive Gymnastics
Academy Programme
The purpose of the Academy Programme is to present gymnasts the opportunity to participate in competition and/or provide former Classic competitive gymnasts the opportunity to continue competition without the intense time commitment. The programme also allows for gymnasts who are exceeding (or progressing faster) in some areas such as Floor and Vault to continue to progress at this excelled pace, and be challenged in these events, but at the same time continue to work in their other events.
There are currently 4 levels; Pre-Novice, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. Gymnasts may progress into the Classic Programme. Coaches make recommendations for each step on a gymnasts’ path according to what will help them best reach their potential.
Classic Programme
This programme follows the pathway set by British Gymnastics. The gymnastics year is split into two halves; the first part of the year is for Grades (National Development Plan) which are set routines/skills for each level and the second half of the year is for Voluntary’s (Classic Challenge) where there’s a set criteria however a choice of skills are available to each individual gymnast to build their routine around what suits them.
NDP grades consist of three levels of preparation levels (Preparation 1-3), four regional levels (Development 1-4) and four national Levels (Performance 1-4). The Classic Challenge Programme consists of each gymnast performing her own routines for each event. There are 6 different levels, three regional level (Tin, Zinc and Copper) and three national level (Bronze, Silver and Gold).
Competitive Tumbling
Gymnasts in our tumbling squads train between 2 and 7.5 hours per week depending on their age and level of ability. Our tumbling squad works alongside the British Gymnastics National Development Programme.
